International PR organisation expands under Irish leadership

Jun 09, 2009
Managing Director of Dublin-based Walsh Public Relations, Jim Walsh, has ended his two-year term as Worldwide President of IPREX, one of the world’s largest corporations of independent public relations firms.

During Walsh’s presidency 21 new partners joined the organisation including Belfast firm, Davidson Cockcroft. Other initiatives undertaken by the IPREX Board, under Walsh’s leadership, were the development of a new three-year business and organisational strategy, an extension of the IPREX web presence into social media, the move to a new corporate identity and new corporate video and the appointment of a regional director for Asia Pacific

In addition 20 IPREX partners combined to publish a book on Crisis Communication, which showcases two Irish communication campaigns, and the range of IPREX strategic alliances were extended to include OCTO, Europe’s foremost authority on crisis and emergency leadership and management.

IPREX has 67 leading independent PR firms in 85 offices across the world, including members in Europe, North & South America, the Middle East and Asia Pacific

Walsh was only the third non-US partner to hold this position since IPREX was founded 25 years ago. Speaking at the end of his term of office, he said: ‘What I’ve experienced over the past two years is that, without a doubt, Irish PR firms can match the best in the world in terms of expertise and best practice’.

He also said; ‘Through our alliance with IPREX, Walsh Public Relations has gained access to worldwide communications expertise and business contacts. This has served the company well both in terms of adding value for our existing Irish clients and as a source of international business’.

This year, Walsh Public Relations celebrates 25 years in business as one of Ireland’s leading independent public relation’s firms. The company supports clients in a wide range of sectors with professional media and public relations services including healthcare, building and construction, corporate, motoring, agribusiness, travel and tourism and food and nutrition.
